Beautiful painting made in a mixed technique of oil pastels and watercolor by Eve Disher (1984-1991).
The artist, born in London, specialized mainly in portraits. At some stage in her life, she traveled a lot and these journeys resulted in just such beautiful paintings as this one.
For many years shared a studio with Vera Cuningham, whose work influenced her style.
In this case, however, one can rather talk about the influence of the Impressionists.
The paintings of Venice, similar in the style were created by Renoir.
It is hard, these days, to buy Renoir for £400 so maybe...?
The painting is in a beautiful, gilded, glazed frame.
Both the painting and the frame have been cleaned and 'refreshed'.
