BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPE OF OLD VILLAGE. OLD ENGLISH SCHOOL OIL ON CANVAS (1904).
Beautiful oil painting from 1904 showing the old English countryside.
The painting in technique and subject matter refers to the best tradition of Anglo-Saxon landscape paintings (artists such as John Constable or Abraham Hulk Jnr.).
Both the painting and the frame arrived in a poor condition (see photos 8,9,10) and have been restored.
The wood of the frame has been cleaned of insects and the damages caused by them are secured with chemical solutions and varnish.
Additionally the original gilde has been restored and has beautiful copper - gilt shine.
The painting has been cleaned and newly varnished.
It is indisticlty signed in lower left corner (W.J. Fenn or Fann?) and dated 1904.
